Integrated MEP Solutions for a Sustainable Future

Innovative Building Systems

At Osborn Associates, we believe that Mechanical, Electrical, and Hydraulic (MEP) systems are more than just building services - they are the foundation of comfort, efficiency, and long-term usability. Our mission is to engineer environments that perform reliably, responsibly, and sustainably for the communities they serve.

We design MEP systems guided by two core principles: Integration and Innovation. These principles enable us to deliver holistic engineering solutions that go beyond compliance - supporting environmental performance, operational efficiency, and long-term adaptability. At Osborn Associates, we don’t just engineer systems; we enable buildings to thrive through intelligent, future-ready design that enhances comfort and functionality.

BIM Capabilities

Osborn Associates’ Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health and Fire Protection team is fully trained and experienced within the BIM environment. The team has expertise in AutoCAD and full 3D

modelling within Revit.

Osborn Associates boasts an experienced team with in-depth knowledge of 3D modelling, rendering, existing building surveys, clash detection, and building modelling. This results in fully coordinated and clash-free models for the construction and infrastructure sector. Our highly

experienced engineers and technicians leverage their on-site experience and knowledge to produce clear models and drawings compliant with BIM level 2.

We encourage and advocate for a 3D modelling philosophy on all new projects, moving away from 2D modelling and towards a more coordinated environment with integrated information within the

model.

The team’s BIM capabilities facilitate a quick and straightforward design process, enabling accurate and rapid adaptation to design changes.

Osborn Associates is dedicated to continuously updating its working practices, integrating emerging technologies to improve design process efficiencies. This commitment ultimately reduces design-associated costs for the client and accelerates the design development process.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does MEP stand for?

Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health - the three core engineering disciplines that cover the internal systems of a building, from heating and cooling to lighting, power and water services.

What types of projects does Osborn Associates provide MEP services for?

We work across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, education, commercial, residential, leisure and industrial projects, from small refurbishments through to large new-build developments.

Do you provide all three MEP disciplines in-house?

Yes. Our mechanical, electrical and public health engineers work together as an integrated team, ensuring fully coordinated designs and a single point of contact throughout your project.

At what stage should I involve an MEP consultant?

Ideally at the earliest possible stage. Early involvement allows us to influence the building layout, fabric and orientation to minimise system sizes, reduce energy consumption and avoid costly design changes later.

Can you work alongside an existing architect or project team?

Absolutely. We regularly collaborate with architects, structural engineers and main contractors, integrating seamlessly into established project teams and working to your preferred design and coordination process.

What software do you use for MEP design?

We use industry-leading tools including Revit for BIM coordination, along with specialist software for energy modelling, load calculations and system design, ensuring accurate and buildable outputs.

Do you offer services for building refurbishments as well as new builds?

Yes. We have extensive experience in both, including condition surveys, options appraisals and phased upgrade strategies that minimise disruption to occupied buildings.

How do your MEP services support sustainability goals?

Our mechanical and electrical designs prioritise energy efficiency, low-carbon technologies and renewable integration. We also carry out thermal modelling and energy assessments to help projects meet BREEAM, LEED and net zero targets.

Can you help with EV charging and renewable energy systems?

Yes. EV charging infrastructure, photovoltaics and other renewable technologies are a growing part of our electrical offering, and we can advise on the right solutions for your building and site.

How do I get started with Osborn Associates?

Get in touch via our website or email [email protected]. We are happy to discuss your project at any stage, provide a fee proposal and outline how our MEP team can add value to your scheme.
